Richard’s Murder Indictment

If it looks like the State has filed a whole lot of counts against Richard Wanke for the murder of Greg Clark; it’s because that is exactly what Illinois has done and is allowed to do against defendants. This practice varies in allowance state-by-state, but it certainly gives prosecutors the edge to get a conviction when charging anyone particularly in serious cases. If the State is unable to prove one count to a jury or judge, it can usually prove another if the Defendant’s actions are parsed down into their separate bits. Defendants are usually able to whittle down a list such as this before trial, but in Richard’s case the State is going to trial on the whole list.
