Attorneys for convicted former Illinois Gov. George Ryan are asking a federal judge in Chicago to release the 76-year-old on bail after his wife was diagnosed Wednesday with incurable lung cancer and given three to six months to live.
Lura Lynn Ryan, also 76, his wife of 54 years, was previously diagnosed with terminal lung disease and now has a “large, aggressive mass of seven centimeters in her lung” and little hope of treatment, said Ryan’s attorneys in a motion filed in court Wednesday afternoon.
