However, this is tragic news to many people that was waiting on family members to come home. I Think this will only make it worse for the system because many where waiting for this option and now they have change their minds so their fore it will be many that are upset, frustrated , and violent if they don't release them it will be many more back in when they release them in the near future............

Dr. Ghosh always told my son, a prisoner at Stateville, that the prison's insurance company prohibited him from prescribing the proper medications and treatment of my son's back problems.

For years, he refused to authorize treatments recommended by doctors at the Univ. of Illinois Hospital because either the insurance wouldn't pay, IDOC does not allow narcotic medications, or IDOC could not afford the expense of mobilizing him back and forth to the hospital for recommended treatments.

So glad he's not there anymore. Perhaps his replacement will do better!

As for IDOC's grievance procedure, it is a farce! Prisoners can file grievances, and if approved by a staff counselor, they will be sent on to someone in Springfield. What inmates quickly learn is that the counselors rarely forward them, and Springfield rarely grants a remedy! After this happens repeatedly, prisoners give up trying to get help.

Here's another story of a man who has spent over HALF his life in prison for...lending his car. Yes, you read that correctly. Paul Modrowski allegedly lent his car to a man who allegedly planned to murder someone. Both were arrested. Only the man who allegedly lent his car was convicted, and sentenced to natural life without parole under Illinois Accountability Law. The other man was acquitted by a separate jury in a dual jury trial (becoming more common nowdays).

The evidence of lending his car? ONE policeman testified that after a 33 hour interrogation, 18-year-old Paul Modrowski "confessed" to lending his car.

The prosecutor told the jury the Law of Accountability "was like the Three Musketeers: All for one, and one for all. The actions of one are the actions of all." Without any evidence that Paul Modrowski was even at the scene of the crime, the jury was told to convict him of murder. And the jury did as told.

19 years later, Paul Modrowski is still living in a cage at Stateville, a maximum-security prison in Illinois. Did I mention that he was born disabled? He is autistic but blessed with high intelligence.

To keep his sanity, friends recommended that he keep a journal. His writings are posted on a blog of his life "On the Inside." You can read it at:
http://paulmodrowski.blogspot.com/

By the way, he did not lend his car to anyone that day. His trial lawyer decided not to allow his alibi witnesses to testify because "The state didn't prove it's case, and in this country you are innocent until PROVEN guilty. We do not have to put on a defense."

My husband is in centralia illinois prison. He has been there almost going on 2 years. Now December 28;2010 I was in a terrible car accident and he couldnt get to me and I am not saying what he did was right. he did burglarize a place where hes from. It is funny though that child molesters can get out earlier and thats just wrong. Oh and as for me I am fine. I was the passenger in a vehicle that they had to cut me out of and I had a broken right arm that I have had to surgeries on and a left leg broke and had to have one surgery on it so far. Oh yes and I have metal in both my arm and leg now. I cant walk right and truthfully by the grace of god I am still here. So all I am asking is to give the good prisoners good time back. If they mess up then they need the maximum of whatever time they have left or someone needs to just make them do all their time over.

I read the article and it makes me sick to my stomack knowing how the politicians pass any law to their advantage to win election. My son is in prison because police is corrupted i doesn't tell the truth but the opposite. They lie and lie. That's how the justice system is. It's easier to get away with morder sometime than be panished with DUI. I experienced how the judicial system works on county level etc. All is b.s. Even if the judge recomends rehab the prison system will throw an inmate wherever they have "a spot" to shovel a human.. I can't believe how the system is working. Only the rich can get a break not regular people.
